The menu in-cludes spaghetti, hand-rolled meat balls, salad,bread and beverage and all for $20. The Spaghetti Warehouse is located at 1911North 13th Street. For the easiest mode of transportation, take the TECO Trolley from just outside the Tampa Convention Center. The Trol-ley will drop you off at Station #4 - CadrechaStation. This station is just steps away.  The Hyatt Regency Downtown will also offer a$15 “Gasparilla” Salad Bar and Pasta Buffet,complete with chocolate chip cookies. Bever-ages are not included. The Hyatt is located onthe corner of Tampa & Jackson Streets. Race Weekend Parking   There are several Public Parking Lots (Fees Vary)in downtown Tampa within walking distance of the Tampa Convention Center and Start/FinishLines.Four suggested garages are:ã Tampa Convention Center Garage – Tampa & Broreinã South Regional Lot/St. Pete Times Forum –Channelside & Morganã Ft. Brooke Garage – Whiting & Floridaã Whiting St. Garage – Whiting & Morgan ChampionChip Instructions ã Do not forget your chip. NO CHIP, NO TIME!ã Chips are not transferable and MUST be wornonly by the registered participant to whom it isassigned.ã Follow the instructions on the outside of your Runner Race Packet when fastening the chip toyour shoe. Make sure it is securely fastened.ã The chip must be fastened to your shoe.It will not work if carried or fastened to anyplace other than your shoe.ã Do not lose your chip.You will be charged a$30 fee if your assigned black chip is not re-turned.ã If you are utilizing your personal ChampionChip,you must confirm that Race Management hasthe correct ChampionChip number. This can bedone by passing your ChampionChip over the“test” pad located in the rear of the TampaConvention Center’s West Hall. If the Champi-onChip information is incorrect, please go tothe Questions/Help Desk.ã Do not cross the Finish Line twice. Once youhave finished, please proceed to the Chip Re-moval Area.Volunteers will be there to assist you with the removal of your chip. Race Number Requirements ã Do not alter the Race Number in any way.ã For your own protection, complete the back of your Race Number and provide the necessarymedical information and emergency contacts.ã Fasten the Race Number securely to the front of your running clothing with safety pins.ã Safety pins are available at packet pick-up.ã All Race Numbers must be readily visible andworn on the front and outside of all clothing during the entire race. Race Participants not wearing their Race Numbers will be removedfrom the course.ã Race Numbers are not transferable. Race Results Complete Race Results for the Publix Super Markets Gasparilla Distance Classic 15K & 5K and Gasparilla Marathon & Half-Marathon willbe available by 5 p.m. on each Race Day at www.tampabayrun.com. Additionally, results willbe emailed to all registered finishers whoprovided email addresses at the time of regis-tration and will include Start Time, Chip Time,Pace Per Mile,Age Group Finish andOverall Finish. The Tampa Tribune will print a Special ResultsSection dedicated to the 2008 Publix Super Markets Gasparilla Distance Classic Race Week-end. The Special Publix Super Markets Gaspar-illa Distance Classic Results Section will beincluded in the Monday, February 11th Editionof The Tampa Tribune and will offer Race Cover-age and complete Race Day Age Group Results. Medical Support Medical Personnel will beready to assist you at anytime during all of the Race Weekend events. Tampa Fire Rescue Paramedics will be stationedalong the course and will be roving the courseon motorized vehicles. The Medical Staff will Marathon Course Time Requirements All Marathon participants must maintain a 16-minute per mile pace and complete the DavisIslands portion of the course (6 miles) by7:45am and half-way point (13.1 mi) by 9:30am. Any runner failing to reach the 6-mile markby 7:45am will be moved to the sidewalk untilthey reach Bayshore Boulevard. At Bayshore,they will be allowed back on course, but must reach the half-way point by 9:30 a.m. If the9:30am requirement is not reached, they will bemoved to the sidewalk and will proceed at their own risk. The Finish Line and Aid Stations will remainopen for 7 hours. At noon, those remaining onthe course will be asked to use the BayshoreBlvd. sidewalk.Aid Stations and Mile Markers/Clocks will alsobe moved to the sidewalk to accommodatethose runners and walkers. The Finish Line willremain in operation until the last participant crosses and receives his or her Finisher’s Medal. Transportation back to the Finish Area will beavailable for runners unable to complete theMarathon. If you cannot complete the Marathon,please go to the closest Aid Station and notify aRace Official that you will require transportationto the Finish Line. Please remember to returnyour black ChampionChip upon returning toFinish Line. Gasparilla Half Marathon Course Information  The 13.1-mile course starts and finishes in thesame location as the Gasparilla Marathon. Thestart is located at Platt Street and Parker Street and the finish is on beautiful Bayshore Blvd.; Tampa’s most scenic and picturesque waterfront road. The first 7-miles (approximate) of the GasparillaMarathon course are the same as the GasparillaHalf-Marathon Course. Just as runners turn onto Ashley Dr. from Platt/Channelside, volunteerswill separate the marathon participants from thehalf-marathon participants (half-marathon par-ticipants should run on the left side of Ashley;marathon participants will run on the right sideof Ashley) in preparation for the half-marathonsplit at the intersection of Ashley and Brorein. The marathon participants will continue north onAshley. The Half-Marathon participants will turn left ontoBrorein Street and on to the Brorein Street Bridge, turn left onto Little Bayshore Boulevard,Bayshore to Platt, Platt to Plant, Plant to Verne,Verne to Bayshore, run south on Bayshore to theturnaround that is just north of Julia Dr. andthen back to the Finish Line on Bayshore Blvd.Gasparilla Half-Marathon Finishers will be di-rected to the left side of the Finish Line.Gasparilla Half Marathon participants will berequired to maintain a 16-minute per mile paceand complete the Davis Islands (6-miles)portion of the course by 7:45 a.m. At 7:45a.m., any half marathon participants remaining on Davis Islands will be directed to the sidewalkfor the remaining distance and until they reachBayshore Boulevard. Once on Bayshore Boule-vard, the participant will be directed off of thesidewalk and on to Bayshore for the remainder of the half marathon course. Start Aid Station and Portable Toilets Zephyrhills Spring Water will be served at tableslocated on the Platt Street Bridge. Portable toi-lets will be located on either side of Bayshorewhere it intersects Platt Street. Gasparilla Marathon& Half-Marathon Aid Stations  There will be one Start and one Fin-ish Aid Station and 22-Aid Stationson-course.Aid Stations will supplyZephyrhills Spring Water andGatorade Endurance Formula(Lemon-Lime).The first section of tables at every Aid Station will be distributing Gatorade Endurance Formula followed by tableswith Zephyrhills Spring Water.This will remainconsistent at each Aid Station throughout thecourse.Power Bar Gel will be distributed at miles 10and 22 of the Gasparilla Marathon Only. Or-anges will be distributed at Aid Station #15/16,#18 and #20. Marathon and Half Marathon par-ticipants are urged to consider their individualneeds and training regimen, and if necessary,bring additional food and hydration items.Therewill be portable toilets at each Aid Station. Gasparilla Marathon& Half-Marathon Clocks & Mile Markers Digital clocks will be positioned along thecourse at every mile and at the Half-Marathonpoint. Mile markers will be placed in a highlyvisible location at every mile to help you locatethe clocks from a distance. Digital clocks at theFinish Line will display your unofficial time.TheHalf-Marathon miles will be marked separatelybeginning at mile 7. Spectator Viewing Areas  The Gasparilla Marathon & Half Marathoncourses were designed to provide family, friendsand spectators with several spectator opportuni-ties. Every participant will come through theGasparilla Marathon & Half Marathon FinishLine area during mile 6. They will be at Brorein& Ashley Streets at miles 7 and 11.The Gaspar-illa Half Marathoners will be within walking dis-tance of the Finish Area at Bayshore Blvd. andMagnolia Street during mile 7.  All-Star Limousine Shuttle Buses A special treat for Marathon and Half Marathonspectators, friends and family, two Shuttle Buseswill run continuously throughout Race Morning beginning at 6:30 a.m. and until 11:30 a.m. The buses will depart from the Tampa Conven-tion Center Front Dr. every 20-minutes and willdrop-off at the following marathon and half marathon course locations:ã ROUTE 1: Will run continuously from theConvention Center to Bayshore Boulevard &Bay to Bay Boulevardã ROUTE 2: Will run continuously from theConvention Center to Bayshore Boulevard &Gandy BoulevardRoute rotation will take place throughout themorning and until 11:30 a.m.Gasparilla Marathon Relay participants will alsoutilize All-Star Limo Shuttles for transportation toand from the Gasparilla Marathon RelayExchange Locations at Bayshore & Bay to Bayand Bayshore & Gandy. Safety Rules & Regulations For the safety and enjoyment of all event partici-pants, the course(s) are restricted to registeredrunners and walkers, wheelchair division partici-pants and official race personnel ONLY. No dogs,no bikes, no in-line skates, no roller skates andno wheeled vehicles (except registered wheel-chairs) will be allowed on course. Baby joggers will only ONLY be allowed in the “Special K”5K Walk & Stroller Roll .Violators will be dis-qualified and removed from the course by aRace Official.Additionally, for your own safetythe use of radio/CD headphones is discouragedin accordance with RRCA and USTAF Guidelines. Gasparilla Marathon & Half Marathon Runner Information For General Information, please review pages 1& 2.The Marathon and Half-Marathon will start promptly at 6 a.m. Following the “Official Start”at 6am and once the Start Area clears, latecomers will not be allowed to Start! Pleaseallow plenty of time to check your gear, and get to the Start Area and then line up for the start of the marathon and half marathon. If you are driv-ing to the race, please arrive early and give your-self plenty of time for parking. Remember that many of the streets will be closed to traffic. Gasparilla Marathon & Half MarathonRunner Gear Check-In/Pick-Up Before the Marathon and Half-Marathon, all par-ticipants may store their warm-up clothing in theGear Check Area.This area will be located in MR24 of the Tampa Convention Center. Gear shouldbe dropped off and picked up according to your race number. The Gear Check Area will open at 4:30 a.m. Lug-gage will not be allowed in Gear Check Area. Donot check any valuables.The Gasparilla DistanceClassic Association will not be responsible for any lost or stolen articles. Do not cross the Finish Line twice.Once you have finished, please proceed to theChip Removal Area. Gasparilla Marathon Relay  Each Gasparilla Marathon Relay Team consistsof four team members. Each team member willrun one of four legs of the relay. The team willreceive one ChampionChip Timing Device and aVelcro Ankle Strap. The chip and strap must bepassed to the next relay team member, but not until after crossing the ChampionChip Transpon-der Pad at each Relay Exchange Location. Di-rectional signage will be posted at eachGasparilla Marathon Relay Exchange Locationand each Relay Exchange Location will bemarked with a Green,Yellow and White BalloonColumn.Gasparilla Marathon Relay Race Numbers wereassigned based on information provided on theindividual entry forms of each GasparillaMarathon Relay Team. All Gasparilla MarathonRelay Race Numbers end in A, B, C or D andeach will run the following distances: A Leg: 7-miles (Marathon Start to RelayExchange #1:Ashley &Whiting Street)B Leg: 7-miles (Ashley &Whiting to RelayExchange #2 (Bayshore & Bay to Bay)C Leg: 8-miles (Bayshore & Bay to Bay to Relay Ex-change #3 (Bayshore & Gandy)D Leg: 4.2-miles (Bayshore & Gandy to Finish Line) Relay Exchange #1 (Ashley & Whiting Street) islocated one block from the Tampa ConventionCenter and is within walking distance. Relay Ex-change #2 and #3 are located on BayshoreBoulevard and are not within walking distance.All-Star Limousine will be providing three 40-passenger buses to shuttle Gasparilla MarathonRelay participants to Bayshore & Bay to Bay andBayshore & Gandy.Additional All-Star LimousineShuttle Bus Drop-Off/Pick-up Location informa-tion is located on page 4.Gasparilla Marathon Relay team members that are running the first three legs of the relay areencouraged to greet their anchor leg team mem-ber on Bayshore Boulevard at the Davis IslandsBridge, so that the team can cross the FinishLine together. Runner Reunite Area Marathon and Half Marathon runners and walk-ers should instruct their families to meet themat the intersection of Platt/Channelside andFranklin Streets (near Franklin Street Entrance of the Tampa Convention Center).The Finish LineArea and Columbia Restaurant “1905” Runner Revive Area will be secure. Non-participants willnot be allowed in this area. Gasparilla Marathon Course Information  The 26.2-mile course starts on Platt and Parker Streets (adjacent to Publix Super Markets) andfinishes on beautiful Bayshore Blvd.; Tampa’smost scenic and picturesque waterfront road. The flat, fast and mostly waterfront courseshowcases many of Tampa’s most beautiful andhistoric neighborhoods including Davis Islands,Downtown Tampa, the Hillsborough River,Bayshore Boulevard, Ballast Point, SouthBayshore and Gadsen Park. The first 7-miles (approximate) of the GasparillaMarathon course are the same as the GasparillaHalf-Marathon Course.
