   JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: STAFF NURSEREPORTS TO: NURSE SUPERVISORACCOUNTABLE TO: NURSING DIRECTORMAIN RESPONSIBILITY: PATIENT CAREOVERALL RESPONSIBILITY: To provide a good standard of care which will promote therecovery of the patient as well as establishing a good professional relationship withworking colleagues. JOB SPECIFICATION:Registered Nurse with a minimum of three (3) months volunteer/ reliever in CapizDoctors Hospital.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1.Receive endorsement from out-going nurse.2.Give accurate report/endorsement about patient’s condition and treatmentby the physician, to the incoming nurse3.Provide for the physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of thepatient.4.Protect the patient from infection and accidents5.Prepare the patient and the necessary equipments for diagnostic proceduresand assist the physician6.Provide general physical care to patients assigned in his/her care7.Collect sample as requested by the medical team for laboratoryinvestigations8.Take and record vital signs and inform the physicians of any change inpatients condition9.Assist in setting up of intravenous infusion and maintain an accurate recordof fluids administered to the patient10.Administer medication and perform treatment ordered by the doctor  11.Establish and maintain a good rapport with working colleagues12.Admit patients as well as carry out discharge procedures.13.Maintain and update all relevant data in patient’s charts14.Keep an accurate record of equipments/instruments used in the ward15.Prepare and accompany patients for special investigations16.Check all equipments regularly to make sure they are in good workingcondition17.Demonstrate competence in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and otheremergencies18.Report to Head Nurse/Supervisor any immediate problems and difficultiesthat have arisen during the course of her duties19.Attend and participate in ward meetings and other activities20.Maintain a good professional relationship with patient’s relatives and informthem of any change in patient’s condition21.Oversee/direct the performance of Nursing Aides and Orderlies22.Maintain confidentiality of patient’s records23.Demonstrate an awareness of fire hazards and the necessary precautions tobe taken in the event of a fire24.Carry out Post-Mortem Care whenever applicable25.Plans for her professional development in terms of education, skills andattitudes so as to catch up with current trends and practices in nursing.26.Performs additional duties as necessary.   JOB DESCRIPTIONPOSITION TITLE: NURSING SERVICE SUPERVISORIMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: NURSING SERVICE DIRECTORMAIN RESPONSIBILITY:Supervision of personnel in the Nursing Service DepartmentOVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:Directs and coordinates administrative and nursing serviceactivities during night time in the absence of the director of nursing andadministrator JOB SPECIFICATION:REGISTERED NURSEA MINIMUM OF THREE (3) YEARS EXPERIENCE AS STAFF NURSEAT LEAST 9 UNITS IN MANDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  1.Administrative supervision over all hospital activities as delegated by thehospital administrator and supervision over nursing services during period of duty.2.Interprets procedures and policies, develop, devise and adopt technique andmethods to meet specific needs in emergency situation. Maintain accurateand complete report of all nursing activities during the shift, report toadministration any unusual occurrence or misconduct of personnel.3.Participates in conference, seminars, meetings for formulating policies andprograms and integrates various patient-care services4.Directs nursing service during the shift, visit all nursing units to oversee careand ascertain condition of patient. Advise and assist nurses in administeringnew and unusual treatment.5.Oversees management for emergency operation6.Reallocate personnel as necessary (sick leave, absences) including nursingaides and orderlies7.Examine patient’s chart for accuracy and completeness8.May perform personally some bedside services for the patient9.Oversees the general cleanliness of all departments. The condition andcompleteness of all equipment and supplies.10.Arranges for placement of patients, transfers and reservation of rooms11.Implements the staff development program of nursing service, orientation of new staff nurses and supervision as necessary12.Perform additional duties as required
