Component of Social Studies SBA Profile   Application  (a) Tasks1. State a problem in the form of a question- Select a problem to study and write it in the form of aquestion.22. Describe an appropriate method of investigation- Select a method to collect data to answer yourquestion.- Describe the method you are going to use to collectyour data.(e.g. survey, observation, interview, document search)13. Design a simple instrument (protocol) to collect data.- Write out the exact questions that you will put in aquestionnaire or ask in an interview.- Create the checklist for your observation schedule ordocument search checklist.(Your data collection instrument may be aquestionnaire, interview schedule, observationchecklist or document search checklist.)3   4. Describe the procedures to collect data.- State how many people/observationepisodes/documents were in your sample and how theywere selected for inclusion in your study?- Give details of each data source –    (For people, state gender, age group, area of residenceor class in the school from which they were selected.(For observations, when and where they took place, listwho or what was observed, why they were selected.(For documents, what documents were included, whyselected, how many used, how they were accessed.- Explain how you got the information from them.3 5 . Compile your data together and present it in threedifferent ways. You may select from:- Graphs, charts, tables, maps, diagrams, photographs,as well as text form to present your data.- You must present your data as clearly and in as well-organized fashion as possible.66. Describe and analyze data presented in task 5- Describe what you think your compiled data seems toindicate.- Analyze your complied data to identify trends,consistencies, inconsistencies in the data57. Interpret the data in terms of the question asked in task 1- State how the data relates to the question you asked intask 1- Does the data help to answer the question?- What does the data say about the question?   5   8. State three findings- State three conclusions that you can make about yourquestion/problem, based on the information gainedfrom your data.   39.
